Standing 33 stories above New York Harbor, Olympia is the tallest building in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood. Workstead designed the new condominium’s interiors to steep the contemporary building in deep local heritage. In 76 residences and 14,000 square feet of interior amenity spaces, which include the Lobby, Bowling Alley, Cellar Lounge, Fitness Center, and Indoor Pool, we chose materials and finish techniques whose patterns evoke the timeless, windswept harbor. References to cobblestone streets and boatbuilding connect Olympia to DUMBO’s more recent history as a working waterfront, while motifs like chamfering engage in dialogue with the tower’s architecture by Hill West. Olympia developer Fortis Property Group tapped Workstead for this project, which demanded exacting collaboration with the client, Hill West, and marketing teams at Douglas Elliman and Sotheby’s International Realty.
